Experience Forest Therapy at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park

Restore balance, reduce stress, and connect with nature.

Have you heard of Shinrin-yoku, or “forest bathing”? Originating in Japan, this restorative practice invites you to slow down and immerse your senses in the natural world. Now gaining popularity in the United States, Forest Bathing Therapy is backed by research for its positive effects on physical and mental well-being.

Join us for a gentle, guided walk through the serene landscapes of Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. Led by certified practitioners from the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT), this experience is designed to deepen your connection with nature and enhance your sense of presence through simple, meditative techniques.

Our walk begins at the White Barn and meanders less than one mile along shaded trails. Together, we’ll tune into the sights, sounds, scents, and sensations of the forest—leaving stress behind and opening space for clarity, calm, and renewal.

This Forest Therapy Series is part of Sugarloaf’s Park Rx Program and takes place the fourth Sunday of each month, March through November. Registration is free with an April 2025 or newer Park Rx from a Sonoma County medical provider. To sign up with a Park Rx, email a copy of your signed form to alma@sonomaecologycenter.org. Please have it ready at registration, as Park Rx tickets are limited.

Our Calendar of Events is full of guided hikes, family events, and more opportunities to deepen your connection to the great outdoors.

We hope to see you at the park soon!
