Here are some tips from the local Madrone Audubon Society for getting birds to come to your garden.

Attracting Birds

According to the Sonoma County Bird Watching Spots  it is not uncommon to see upwards of 50 different species of birds on a given day in Sonoma County. Here is their list of common species. “Double-crested Cormorant, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Turkey Vulture, Canada Goose, Mallard, Red-shouldered Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, California Quail, Killdeer, Willet, Marbled Godwit, Western Sandpiper, Western Gull, Rock Dove, Mourning Dove, Anna’s Hummingbird, Acorn Woodpecker, Nuttall’s Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Black Phoebe, Western Scrub Jay, American Crow, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Oak Titmouse, Bushtit, American Robin, Northern Mockingbird, European Starling, Spotted Towhee, California Towhee, Song Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco, Red-winged Blackbird, Brewer’s Blackbird, House Finch, Lesser Goldfinch, American Goldfinch, House Sparrow”
