Welcome to Sugarloaf Ridge State Park

Sugarloaf Ridge State Park contains the headwaters of Sonoma Creek. It runs through gorge and canyon, across the meadow floor, beneath scenic rock outcroppings, and is surrounded by redwoods and ferns. With 47 family-sized campsites and 25 miles of hiking trails, it is the perfect place to spend time outdoors!

SUGARLOAF IS OPEN FOR DAY USE

Waterfall

Waterfall on Canyon Trail. 12/14/24

Sugarloaf Ridge State Park is open for day use, and all trails are accessible. Recent storms (since 12/11) have brought significant rainfall: 4.12″ at the Visitor Center, and 3.31″ at Bald Mountain, with peak rain rates of 1.43″/hr and wind gusts up to 35 mph.

Use caution on trails with water crossings, including:

  • Goodspeed Trail
  • Grey Pine Trail
  • Pony Gate Trail
  • All trails in McCormick Addition

While we maintain regular patrols, some trails may have undiscovered obstacles. The salmon run has concluded, but Sonoma Creek waterfall is now flowing impressively.

The Campground is currently closed and will reopen on Sunday, Dec. 15.

| El Parque Estatal Sugarloaf Ridge ha reabierto, pero algunos senderos están afectados y las condiciones de otros son desconocidas; visita la página de condiciones del parque para un informe detallado.

Note: Pets are permitted in the campground and picnic area and on paved roads in the main park area, but not on park trails or in the back-country regions and roads.

Camping:  We have 44 campsites open, both reservable in advance and first-come, first-served in our lovely creekside campground.
