Deep Sky Astrophotography Processing class

February 27, 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Have you ever admired amazing deep sky astrophotography images and wondered if you could ever create similar images?  Now you can!

With raw data provided from the telescopes at the Robert Ferguson Observatory, in this class series of three sessions you will have the opportunity to learn how to process and edit your own beautiful deep sky images. Please note, this workshop is meant as a 3-class series. It is highly recommended to purchase tickets for all three days.

Please note, this is a virtual class. A Zoom link will be sent to participants prior to the class.

What you will learn in this class:

– The fundamentals of Deep Sky Astrophotography

– An overview of image capture techniques (a dedicated, hands-on class on Deep sky image capture using your own equipment will be held later in Spring 2025)

– Robert Ferguson Observatory Image capture techniques – how we captured the data that will be used in this class.

– An overview of image processing techniques

– An introduction to Siril, a free and open-source Astronomical Image Processing Program

– A hands-on session where you will process data collected at the Robert Ferguson Observatory

– A wrap-up session where you will have the opportunity to share and discuss your images with other class attendees

Class Prerequisites:

– A computer newer than 5-years old (the newer the better), loaded with the latest operating system
