Park Rules
Sugarloaf Ridge State Park is subject to all the rules and regulations of California State Parks but the following is a brief list to help you make the most of your visit.
- Pets are permitted in the campground and picnic area, and on paved roads in the main park area, but not on park trails or in the back-country areas and roads. Pets in the allowed areas must be on a leash no longer than six feet, and kept inside a vehicle or tent at night. Please clean up after your pets.
- Fires are allowed only in the fire rings provided. You may use your portable stove or barbecue, but only in the established camping and picnic areas. Wood gathering is not allowed – dead wood is part of nature’s recycling system. Purchase firewood at the Visitor Center or from the Campground Host.
- Smoking is limited to developed areas. The park becomes tinder-dry in summer when fire hazard is high; please do not smoke on trails.
- Quiet hours are 10 pm to 6 am Generators may only be operated between 10 am and 8 pm.
- Plants and wildlife are protected. Do not pick the flowers. Their seeds make next year’s flowers.
- Do not feed or attempt to pet wild animals for their welfare and your safety. Please secure food items at night to keep raccoons and other creatures from stealing them.
- Campers & trailers: Maximum RV/Camper length is 27 feet. Maximum trailer length is 24 feet.
- Picnicking: Individual picnic table use is on a first-come, first served basis. The group picnic area can be rented in advance. To reserve, contact the Sugarloaf Office at 707-833-5712.
- Horses and bicycles are allowed only on designated, named trails. Off-trail riding or trailblazing is prohibited. The California Bicycle Helmet Law is enforced.
