Learn about the fascinating world of fungi and how to identify fungi with local expert George Riner. We will utilize the iNaturalist app along with clues such as location, color, ecosystem, spore-producing surface, and other visuals to learn to identify specimens. Download the iNaturalist app to your mobile phone and make an observation the night before. Make sure to arrive with a full battery on your phone or you’ll miss out on the fun(gi).
Tickets are $10 for general admission or $5 for Sugarloaf members, docents, students, seniors, and minors. Be prepared for two miles of leisurely walking and chatting over moderate and possibly muddy terrain. Meet outside the Visitor Center ten minutes prior to the event start time. Please wear appropriate clothing, bring a full battery on your phone, a small handheld mirror, something to kneel or sit on, a mushroom-identifying guide (if you have one), and a reusable drink container so your little ones can enjoy hot cocoa after the walk. Heavy rains cancel; parking fees apply. Be prepared to follow County Health guidelines such as physical distancing or mask wearing.
