Slow Journeys Hike

June 11, 3:00-5:00 pm

Join Sugarloaf docents for this meandering exploration of the Creekside Trail, an ADA-compliant trail .9 miles long (roundtrip). Suitable for all levels and a range of mobility, this afternoon adventure will accommodate people using wheelchairs, walkers, canes, young children, parents with babies in strollers, and those who just enjoy slow walks in nature that stimulate the five senses.

Forest Bathing Walk

June 12, 10:00 am-1:00 pm

Shinrin-yoku or “forest bathing” originated in Japan and is gaining popularity in the United States for its documented health benefits. This practice takes a walk in the woods to another level, reducing stress and promoting balance and restored vitality through a quality of presence and heightened sensory awareness. Sugarloaf Ridge State Park hosts a Forest Therapy Series as part of its Park Rx Program, led by certified Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) practitioners.

Sugar Shuttle

June 14 and June 15, 8:00-11:00 am

Want to do a thru-hike from Sugarloaf to Hood Mountain or vice versa? Ride the Sugar-Hood Shuttle! Every half hour, our Shuttle will leave from either Sugarloaf Ridge State Park’s Visitor Center (making a brief stop at the Goodspeed parking lot) or Hood Mountain Regional Park’s Pythian Rd parking lot (with a brief stop at the equestrian lot). Make a reservation to ride to the other end of the trail and begin your hike, or hike and ride back. We recommend riding first and hiking back to your car afterward—so you can take all the time you want to finish your adventure.

Can’t make it to Sugarloaf Ridge State Park for California State Parks Week? Don’t worry—our Calendar of Events is full of guided hikes, family events, and more happening all month long. We hope to see you at the park soon!
